“And that person who was dead, we gave him life and we granted him a light because of which he walks amongst people.” (Surah al-An’am, Verse 122)

A heedless person is like a corpse, whereas truly alive is the one who is constantly engaged in remembering Allah. Through the abundant remembrance of Allah the heedless heart of a person is transformed into a living one. Hence, this light of nisbah (spiritual connection) is such a blessing that it gives life to the heart that was once dead and devoid of the remembrance of Allah.

Different people display different signs of the attainment of this light. This light in the language of our mashaikh (spiritual elders) is also called faidh, barakah, rahmah, and noor. All these words point to the same blessing. Attainment of faidh means the attainment of illumination. When a person gives bayt (pledges allegiance) to a shaykh and engages in the remembrance of Allah (dhikr) he attains faidh through this dhikr and his heart fills with noor. His heart attains peace as a result.

Light and darkness cannot coexist in the same space. Whenever noor enters the heart of a person he achieves tranquility, and whenever his heart is engulfed by darkness he is in a state of perpetual anxiety. Darkness causes unrest and confusion while noor brings peace.

Shaykh Nazim on June 17th, 2012: HRH Prince Nayef bin ‘Abdul Aziz Al Saud .. The Star of Al Saud

Very Interesting account from Shaykh Nazim Al Haqqani ..

Translation from Saltanat.org:

Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim
, An inspiration came to my heart about the loss (passing away) of the Crown Prince.  (Prince Nayef bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud)  May Allah’s (swt) Mercy be on him.  A few words came to my heart and I would like to share & speak about what has been  inspired to my heart  concerning the Crown Prince.

We say, Audhu Billahi min al shaytan al rajim, Bismillahi r- Rahmani r-Rahim.  Allahu Akbar Al Akbar!  Subhana Allah!  The news was given last night about the passing away of the Crown Prince of the House of Saud and for this reason what was inspired to my heart, I would like to share it with the Muslims, the believers and all the people. And all of us are servants of our Lord (jwa) Subhanahu wa Taala.  Allahu Akbar Al Akbar! Allahu Akbar Al Akbar! Allahu Akbar Al Akbar!

The news spread rapidly about the passing away of the Crown Prince of the House of Saud.  And what has been inspired to my heart is that he was, Subhana Allah! Among the House of Saud he was a bright star. There was no one like him.  Subhana Allah! This is the inspiration that came to the heart of a weak servant.  May Allah (swt) have Mercy on his soul & on us.

We are living in the blessed months.  The first one is Rajab, “the month of Allah & Shaaban is my (sas) month, and Ramadan is the month of my nation.” Subhana Allah, the greatest of months.  Rajab, the month of Rajab, because it is Rajabul Fard/Unique, and therefore it said that Rajab is the month of Allah (swt).  It is not equal to any other month.  It is called the month of Allah (swt).  Not Ramadan, nor Shaaban, nor any of the other months. This month is a glorified & exalted month.  It’s honour can’t be quantified by any  measurement. Shaban is my (sas) month.  Rajabun Ajaibun! Allahu Akbar Al Akbar!  Allahu Akbar Al Akbar! Subhanahu wa Taala.

The news has spread immediately about the passing away of the Crown Prince of the House of Saud.

They said, & I heard, that he was a shining star among the House of Saud.  There was no one like him.

This is how they describe him.  He was a great person among the House of Saud.  He is praised.  “And who dies in a foreign country is considered Shahid/martyr”.  Then he…Subhana Allah, died in a foreign country & therefore is considered Shahid/martyr, on the blessed night of Laylatul Miraj.  No one of the Saudi family has reached this station.  Masha’Allah to him.  He was peaceful & calm, his personality was soft.  He never harmed anyone, that praising is from Heavens.

Haqq (swt) says “Kullu Nafsin Dha’iqatu Al-Mawti Thumma Ilayna Turja`una”(29:57)  “Everyone must taste death then onto Us you shall return” (29:57) His soul was taken on Laylatul Mi’raj.  This is a special thing was granted to him.  Among the House of Saud, not one Prince nor a King, nor a Sultan has ever reached this level.  This praising no one has reached it in Laylatul Miraj. Subhana Allah!  O people, O believers, Allah (jwa) says “everyone must taste death then onto Us you shall return” (29:57)  And he is different.  Every one of the Kings requested to be buried in their own countries, their city is Riyadh, except for him. He requested to be prayed on in the Haram of Makka Al Mukarrama.  And that he may be buried in Makka Al Mukarrama.   No one has reached this level.

He has never harmed anyone nor has anyone ever complained against him.  But he was limited…there was no power left in his hands.  If his life was longer he would have given the Kingdom to the rightful owners from the Ahlul Bayt of the Prophet (saws).  He had the intention. In Laylatul Miraj, the night before yesterday Awliya’ Allah (swt) were informed about  what he was thinking:  to give the Kingdom (of Saudi Arabia)  to its rightful owners.  Like the believers must   give the amanat to its owners, Makka Mukarrama & Madina Al Munawwara are with the House of Saud now as a trust.  He is the one who was inspired in his heart to give the kingdom back to its rightful owners as it was shown to him from Heavenly Orders.  That Crown Prince was a lover of Truth & his love for Haqq/Truth was so as to give amanat/entrusted land back to its people.  He was hiding this matter about giving everything back to its owners,  but this was on his mind.

And in Laylatul Miraj the angels came down and took his soul so that his will be done, to pray Salat Al Janaza  in Haram of Makka Al Mukarrama. He was a great man, this was his intention.  He was taken and people cried for him, they cried for him.  He has been buried this night in Makka Al Mukarrama.  Yes! O House of Saud, Allah (swt) is witness & His Prophet (saws) is witness to what the House of Saud has done.  Whether they accept or not Allah (swt) will ask them about this. His intention was clear & it was to give back the land to its owners.  This was kept in his heart, Subhana Allah! Allahu Akbar Al Akbar!

O Kings & leaders & Princes, Haqq (swt) says “Kullu Nafsin Dha’iqatu Al-Mawti Thumma Ilayna turja`una”(29:57) “Everyone of you will taste death & onto Me you shall return.” (29:57) If they accept, the Lord of Bounty, the Lord of Heavens & Earths accepts only this servant from the House of Saud, who is prayed upon in the Haram of Makka & buried in Haram Al Sharif (Makka).

Allah (jwa) says astaizzu BillahWa Ma Khalaqtu Al-Jinna Wa Al-’Insa Illa Liya`buduni“(51:56)  I don’t need from them provision  or anything, except that they serve Me.  I am a weak servant & my Arabic is weak as if I am illiterate, but in the middle of the night some inspirations came to my heart concerning him…  He is pointing to me with his head like this.  They dressed him with Divine Light, not like any other King was dressed.  Allah (swt) blessed him that he may be prayed on in the Haram of Makka and that he may be buried in Makka Al Mukarrama.

Yes, O Kings “Kullu Nafsin Dha’iqatu Al-Mawti“(29:57) death is written for everyone…And for each one of us, surely death will come to us.  O Kings, Haqq (swt) says “And I created not the jinns & humans except they should worship Me”(51:56) And Haqq (swt) says “Liyabluwakum Ayyukum  Ahsanu Amalan…” (67:2)  O Kings, what deeds are you doing?  Allah (swt) looks to what you do & says “He may test which of you is best in deeds.” (67:2)  This is not my thinking, but my certainty, that  Al Haqq (swt) wants what is  rightly due to  be returned to its owners.  And from amongst the House of Saud, he had the intention to give back the Kingdom to its rightful owners, to the Ahlul Bayt of the Prophet (saws).

“Liyabluwakum Ayyukum  Ahsanu `Amalan…” (67:2) O people what are you doing?  What do you do?  They keep treasures like Qarun and it has no benefit for them.  What benefits them is to spend!  Spend, “give without saying no & don’t fear that your wealth will decrease.”  O Kings what are you doing?  The Beloved of Allah (sas) said: Spend O Bilal, and don’t fear from the Lord of the Throne any decrease!

This believer in one God, and loving to the Ahlul Bayt of the Prophet (saws),   his intention was to give away all his treasures.  He was prevented, but it reached!  What he intended to do, reached God!  Masha Allah.

O Kings take a lesson from this servant who had a good intention.  Spend! And don’t fear from the Lord of   the Throne any decrease.  He wanted to obey  the verse that says “Liyabluwakum Ayyukum  Ahsanu `Amalan…” (67:2) May God have Mercy on his soul.  The people of Truth have no other king from the late kings of Aal Saud  to praise and recommend except  Prince Nayef!  He took their praise, good for him!  O Sons of Saud, may God give you good rewards if you obey like him!  Today in this world. Tomorrow in the afterlife. O people, all Muslims in all Muslim countries, observe this lesson:  Allah rewards his weak servant with   the best reward, the best reward. We have treasures, of this world we don’t need the rewards of the House of Saud or any other people! No! Dunya, for the good servants of Allah (swt), is under their feet!

I was told today to remind all people about the late Prince Nayef.  Nayef, his face was shown to us.  Nobody saw what we saw.  The Saints of Makka Al Mukarrama  showed us.  No one else amongst Aal Saud was granted that except him. Allah (swt) blessed this servant.  He had a good intention to give   people their rights May God reward him with goodness, and may God reward you Sons of Saud.  Wait and obey God’s orders!  Be servants for Allah!  Be rulers of yourselves.  Be steadfast on the right way.  Be the best of people! As Allah (jwa) honoured you to test your deeds, to test your deeds and who does goodness amongst you.

Do you understand Arabic? Mine is weak O Kings!  And I have no request from you.  I reached the age of exemption  SN.:Those exempted  by Allah (swt) the most merciful.  Who are those exempted by Allah the   most merciful must be of their age.  I don’t   want from you anything except assuming goodness   in us, and the people.  Assume goodness in people.  Be generous to people, If you are   generous, it is for your own selves.  If you are not generous, you keep God’s Generosity away from yourselves too.

O Shaykhs of Egypt, Shaykhs of Sham, Shaykhs of Baghdad, East, and West, keep and think about these words, they don’t   come from books that we have, but these are inspirations, and he is happy & he blinked at me during his Janaza Prayer, like this.  I don’t want from you rewards or thanks.  If I was   preparing something to speak to the Muslim people…But I was strongly inspired and it forced me, from the Master of Prophets (saws), Master of beginning & end, Rasullah(sas).

Ask them, he says, the Prophet (saws) of the end of times, “My Lord prays upon me, and they prevent prayers made upon me! And I am his opponent,on the Day of Judgement,   O kings of Saud! Astaghfirullah, I repent to Allah (swt).  I have declared, I declared & Allah (swt) is witnessing and the Prophet (saws) is witnessing and the angels are witnessing,   I am a weak servant, two words & I get tired. And my Arabic is also little.  I don’t condole those who suggested that I remind the nation of the Prophet (saws) all of them. Those who took this advice, good for them.  Those who neglected this advice, woe to them here, and hereafter.

Tawba Ya Rabbi  Tawba Astaghfirullah, Tawba Ya Rabbi  Tawba Ya Rabbi, Tawba Astaghfirullah.  Give Your beloved, the Master of  beginning and end, light and happiness, and make him content  here and in the Hereafter amongst  all worlds, O Lord of the Great Throne.  He knows what happens  upon the Throne of the All Merciful.  O House of Saud!  Appreciate your Prophet (saws)!

Al Fatiha.

Stories & Salawat/Durood of Hazrat Fazlur Rahman Ganj Muradabadi qs

I happen to be reading some books and came across the Great Shaykh Hazrat Fazlur Rehman Ganj Muradbadi qs. I remember in my early days reading about how he ran away in the battle against the British because Khidr as was on their side. Later I found out about all the takwini manners and understood the reasons etc. None the less what amazed me is that the deobandis and barelwi both hold him in high esteem. So I started my research. Another amazing thing is that he studied hadith with Shah Abdul Aziz Dehlawi qs. He was also gifted to study hadith in the night time with Shah Abdul Aziz Dehlawi qs who would take it directly from the Ruh of the Prophet Mohamed sala allahu alayhi wa salam.  Not many have had this karamat of taking hadith directly from the Prophet Mohamed sala allahu alayhi wa salam. A few come to mind who took the ijaza of the different quranic recitations were Shaykh Zawawi qs and Shaykh Ahmad Tijani qs. I am sure by now most people reading will start to question how???  Those who travel the path and start the purification of the heart get openings where they can interact with the souls of anbiya and awliya once  alam awrah is open to them. For those in the Naqshbandi Mujjaddi way this is sabaq 2 latifah ruh. Once this is activated ones kashf/vision open if you get tawajuh from a kamil murshid. This is all candy for the murids to keep them going forward in tariqa. If you get lost sightseeing the shaykh is urged to close down the vision and raise you higher as the goal is to get closer to Allah swt not to get visions etc.  None the less each lesson has its signs which should be observed in the mureed. Now back to the shaykh. Here is some info I found about him with some of the elders.

Hazrat Gangoh qs

Mawlana ‘Ashiq Ilahi Mirathi (may Allah shower His mercy upon him) writes:

‘‘Mawlana ‘Abd al-Majid Hazarwi would relate, ‘‘When I began studying hadith under the tutelage of Sayyid Nadhir Husayn Dehlawi[1], I would feel anxiety in my heart and would often see dreams in which I was surrounded by roaming piglets. Seeing these dreams I became completely disheartened and went straight to the company of Mawlana Fadl-e-Rahman[2] (may Allah shower His mercy upon him) in Ganj Muradabad. I explained to him what I was studying and the nature of my dreams. Mawlana asked me, ‘‘Where do you study?’’ I replied, ‘‘In Delhi, with Mawlana Nadhir Husayn.’’ He suggested, ‘‘Go to Mawlana Rashid Ahmad in Gangoh. That is where the bastion of hadith is.’’ Thereafter, he continued to praise Imam Rabbani (Mawlana Rashid Ahmad Gangohi (may Allah sanctify his secret)), and said, ‘‘Go there, relay my salam to him and inform him that you have been sent by Fadl-e-Rahman.’’ Thus, Mawlana ‘Abd al-Majid arrived in Gangoh. When he went to Mawlana [Rashid Ahmad Gangohi], he was sitting on a stool for ablution, brushing his teeth with a miswak. He smiled upon seeing Mawlana ‘Abd al-Majid. The latter greeted him with salam and relayed Mawlana Fadl-e-Rahman’s salam and message. He informed him, ‘‘Mawlana praised you greatly and I am now here having been sent by him.’’ Upon hearing this, Mawlana said with complete humility, ‘‘He praises others since he himself is worthy of praise, otherwise I know what I really am.’’

Mawlana ‘Abd al-Majid relates, ‘‘Finally, I commenced [the study of] hadith and benefited from Mawlana [Rashid Ahmad Gangohi], and from that very day my distress began decreasing and my happiness continued to increase daily.’’ ’’

Hazrat Thanwi qs

Hazrat Hakeem al Ummat (rah) says:

Twice I was blessed with the opportunity to present myself in the service of Hazrat Maulana Shah Fazlur Rahman saheb Ganj muradabadi (rah)… I cannot confidently recall the month and year but im quite sure that my first visit was in 1301 Hijri and the month was probably the month of Rabius Thani or Jamadul ula.

since I can only remember this visit to be after the period of my service at Kanpur..and it was my last journey during my association at Kanpur which was approaching the period of Meelad.. and people generally used to inquire about the masail of meelad.. being a fresh Mudarris I had arrived in Kanpur.. and after two months, owing to certain issues, I had resigned and made up my mind to return to Thanabhavan..

During this time when I intended to leave Kanpur, I had this thought about gaining the blessings of hazrat Maulana (rah) by visting him… Since I wasn’t sure if I would ever travel towards this place again…

There was talib e ilm named Mehdi Hassan who used to study the Qur’an.. taking him along I began my journey towards Moradabad..

Exhausted… We reached at last.. Isha salaah was already over.. and Maulana had retired to his room from the Masjid.. a message was sent through the khadim.. Hazrat asked for us and leaving my companion with the luggage I set forth alone with the khadim..

I remember faintly of a desk set in a corner next to which a rug was spread… and Hazrat Maulana was resting on a cot on the opposite side…

Standing before him I said my salaams.. answering me, he began to speak in his unique accent quite rapidly.. and in one go asked three questions.. Who are you..? Where have you come from..? Why have you come..?

Hazrat Maulana possessed a natural accent that was simple.. he bore a very down to earth temperament.. neither was he accustomed to artificial formalities.. Had a clear nature.. While conversing his tone would speed… especially with those who visited him with etiqad… the way I visited… and people would of course visit him with etiqad..

He spoke with such an accent that a stranger would easily mistaken it as if Maulana was angry.. but this wasn’t so.. those who would visit him twice or thrice..would understand by now that his accent was such. Even when he spoke with love and affection his accent remained the same…

So Maulana asked quickly in his unique accent… who are you..? where have you come from..? why have you come..?.. Respectfully, I answered his questions as.. I’am a Talib e Ilm.. I have come from Kanpur… I have come for ziarat..
Listening to this he became even more rapid in speech..

Said:

Bade aaye ziarat wale.. are ye koee waqt hai ziarat ka.. aise waqt kisi ki ziarat ko aaya karte hain.. aadmi ko chahiye ke zara sawere aaye.. doosra kuch roti waghera ka intezaam kar sake.. abh batlao tumhare liye khana kahan se laun.. tumhe khuda ka khauf nahin aaya… tum ko zameen na nigal gayee..

As if. .. Is this the time to visit.. does anyone visit at this hour.. a person should come early in the morning so that one can make due arrangements for food.. now tell me where from can I get you dinner.. weren’t you not afraid of god.. did the earth not swallow you..

Iam very much thankful to Allah  that after glancing at my heart I did not find any feeling of hurt or complain. Even if he had said anything more I wouldn’t have felt bad.
I had presented myself with great etiqad… and that itself was the motive…

But I felt it disrespectful to utter anything now.. this was a rebuke.. what could I answer.. so I stood silent.. after sometime he said … do you have any money.. I replied yes.. said ok you may leave now.. buy something from the market to eat.. and meet me in the morning.. I said very well.. after saying this he told the khadim to lodge me in a particular house.

” So we accompanied him and he showed us the place.. it looked like an ordinary dwelling.. Quite unsafe.. like a rest house.. anyway I reached there with the transport along with my companion and began to unload our belongings.. it was our intention that we get some eatables from bazaar then take leave in the morning as advised..

Just then a khadim arrived saying that Maulana wants to see me.. I said to myself he must have remembered something more.. anyway.. I have come here to listen it all.. so i went along and stood before Maulana..
He ordered me to sit down.. the accent was still the same.. but this time there was love and affection.. since we shall know later.. his accent was such.. owing to his very simple nature.. hearing this I sat near the Takht ( wooden seat like a diwan) on the coired mattress..

Said. .come here sit on the takht.. so I sat there as told.. then he asked the khadim to get me food from his daughters place.. and the khadim immediately returned with food..
In a vessel there was some gravy.. probably arhar daal (split red gram curry) atop which were kept some rotis..(Indian bread)..

When the khadim placed the food before me, Maulana looked on.. even though the lamp was dim and I was sitting at a distance.. his eyesight was quite good even at this age.. looking at the food he said to the khadim.. ill-mannered fellow..! is this how you serve food to guests.. you could have brought the roti in another plate.. and gravy in a separate vessel.. how could you bring the roti on top of a vessel..?

Khadim replied that he searched but could not find the plate.. said now you lie !..is it not placed on that particular rack..? this he may have said by kashf..

Maulana was known for his kashf.. hearing this khadim hurried and fetched the plate..
orelse I had to eat all those rotis holding in my hand.. when I began to eat he asked me what is the food..?

I said hazrat its arhar daal and roti.. he replied Subhan Allah this is a great blessing..! You are learned man.. And you studied under Maulvi Muhammed Yaqoob.. Maulana had kashf.. said he was a very good man.. this was the heaviest praise Maulana could offer.. since Maulana abstained from exaggeration in praise..

Saying that he was a very good person was itself a heavy praise…this also proved the relation between Maulana and Hazrat Maulana Muhammed Yaqoob sahab..
Said You are a learned man.. you know how the condition of sahabah radhi Allahu anhum was.. simply eating a dried date they would go for jihad and fight the whole day.. when he began to mention about the sahaba radhi Allahu anhum he got excited and stood up.. it was his habit to become excited whenever the mention of akabireen came upon..

Now excited by the mention of sahaba e karam he stood near me resting his hand on my shoulders speaking on the virtues of sahaba.. I continued to eat.. I do remember him recite even a couplet or two…

Then he asked me if I would eat berries.. I replied it was hazrat’s tabarruk.. said leave aside tabarruk and all that .. tell me if your stomach gets upset on eating berries.. I said no.. then he reached for a vessel that contained some large berries and he offered me to eat,.. then he said jokingly You could have said to urself that I ate it all and did not bother about the guest..

When I was done with the food he gave me permission to leave.. said sleep after praying isha.. now we shall meet in the morning.. Maulana then went inside.. I offered my prayers and prepared to sleep at my place…

Fajr prayer was offered behind Maulana.. he lead the prayer and recited short surahs.. then he sat facing towards us.. after a while he got up turning his attention towards someone who appeared to be a rich man from his disposition.. it would be quite evident in winters if one was rich or a commoner just from his clothing…

Anyway Maulana turned towards him and asked… When will you leave? He said after praying Jum’a… Asked what shall happen if you pray Jum’a here..?
He said where else could I pray Jum’a. . he seemed to be an old acquaintance.. who visited him often..

Maulana said:

Hume kya khabar kahaan padhoge..? hum koee thekedaar hain tumhare Jum’a ke.. logon ko sharm nahin aati munh par dadhee laga kar paraye tukdon par padhte hain..

How do I know where you shall pray? Am I responsible for your Jum’a,, people are not ashamed even after keeping a beard they want to eat at others expense.. he too seemed to be very informal.. said he is not leaving anyhow.. hearing this Maulana took him by the arm forcefully and said just get out of here.. so he left..

Not sure if he left the town or not.. I wondered if I was next in line, so I took his permission to leave.. said very well..
I began to walk and Maulana too came along.. I wondered he might be incidentally walking in the same direction due to some need…neither did I think nor felt myself worthy that he would give me company… but later it was known that he did come to see me off.. So whenever a guest house would pass by he asked me do you stay here…?

Finally we reached the guesthouse.. I stopped there and Maulana too stood back.. told me to get a transport and mount the luggage..
I stretched my hands for the farewell Musafah and requested Maulana to make dua for me.. he said I have already made dua for you..

Then I requested him to give me something to recite.. said read Qulhu Allahu and subhan Allahi wa bi hamdihi..200 times each.. I had learnt that he prescribed this even to the students since there was great virtue in its recitation as mentioned in hadees shareef..

Since I was a traveler Jum’a was not an obligation and there was no remorse in letting it go… having returned from there, the foundation of Madrassa Jamiat ul Uloom was laid and I was requested to stay on in kanpur.. otherwise I had decided to leave Kanpur while making my trip towards Hazrat.. doubtful of any visit in future.. so ultimately I settled in Kanpur..”

Ala Hazrat Imam Raza Khan Barelwi qs

Once a great scholar known as Ahmed Raza (Ala Hazrat) (rahmatullah alaih) came to meet Maulna Fazl-e-Rehman Gunjmuradabadi (rahmatullah alaih). When He reached at the khutiya (Hut) of Maulna Fazl-e-Rehman Gunjmuradabadi (rahmatullah alaih) he asked the khadim of Maulna Fazl-e-Rehman Gunjmuradabadi (rahmatullah alaih) that he wanted to meet Maulna Fazl-e-Rehman Gunjmuradabadi(rahmatullah alaih). On which the khadim went to Maulna Fazl-e-Rehman Gunjmuradabadi (rahmatullah alaih) and told him that ahmed raza (rahmatullah alaih) wants to meet. On hearing this Maulna Fazl-e-Rehman Gunjmuradabadi (rahmatullah alaih) said what he want from a fakir there are so many scholars in his khandan(Family). I dont have any thing to give him, after hearing this the khadim told Ahmed raza (rahmatullah alaih) what Hazrat Maulna Fazl-e-Rehman Gunjmuradabadi (rahmatullah alaih) has told but Ahmed raza (rahmatullah alaih) requested once again to meet him on hearing this Hazrat Maulna Fazl-e-Rehman Gunjmuradabadi (rahmatullah alaih) called him, Ala Hazrat (rahmatullah alaih) asked Hazrat Maulna Fazl-e-Rehman Gunjmuradabadi (rahmatullah alaih) what does he think of Milad Sharif instead of replying to the quetion Hazrat Maulna Fazl-e-Rehman Gunjmuradabadi(rahmatullah alaih) asked him what do you think of “Milaad Sharif ” on which Ahmed raza (rahmatullah alaih) replied for me it is mustahab on hearing the answer Hazrat Maulna Fazl-e-Rehma Gunjmuradabadi(rahmatullah alaih) said for me it is sunnat, and said that the Sahaba-e-Karam(Radi Allahu anhu) who use to take part in jihad use to praise our Holy Prophet(Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam) among their people and use to tell all people that how Allah has blessed his Holy Prophet(Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam) and many other things this is what we do in Milad Sharif the only difference is that the Sahaba-e-Karam(Radi Allahu anhu) use to distribute their head while u people distribute Laddu(sweet) and after this Ala Hazrat(rahmatullah alaih) asked him for any guindance tips on which Hazrat Maulna Fazl-e-Rehman Gunjmuradabadi(rahmatullah alaih) replied dont do takfir in a hurry, Ala Hazrat(rahmatullah alaih) on hearing this started thinking that i called only those people kafir who disobeys our Holy Prophet(sal-lal-laho-tala-alihi-wasalm) Hazrat Maulna Fazl-e-Rehman Gunjmuradabadi (rahmatullah alaih) came to know what Ahmed Raza(rahmatullah alaih) was thinking by KASHF and replied yes yes undoubetly if any one disobeys the Holy Prophet(sal-lal-laho-tala-alihi-wasalm) even in a slightest manner is undoubtely Kafir.

Then Hazrat Maulna Fazl-e-Rehman Gunjmuradabadi (rahmatullah alaih) removed his cap(Topi) and placed his cap on the head of ahmed raza (rahmatullah alaih) and said that like the cap is shining on your head ahmed raza (rahmatullah alaih) one day you will shine in the whole universe and as you people can see how the fame of ahmed raza (rahmatullah alaih) is today all over the world because of the dua of Sarkare Fazle Rehman Gunjmuradabadi (rahmatullah alaih). The Topi Mubarak(Cap) is still present at the dargah sharif of Ala Hazrat(rahmatullah alaih) which is in bareily Sharif and is nicely kept with the Taburukat of Ala Hazrat(rahmatullah alaih) and are shown to the people on friday and on some occasion. You can have a look at the topi mubarak in the photo gallery or at the link below.

Shaykh Abdul Mabood and King Abdul Aziz Al Saud ..

http://www.nuradeen.com/archives/images/ShaykhMahboob.jpg

Shaykh Abdul Mabood AL Gilani passed in 1983 at the age of 160 years old

Shaykh Abdul Mabood’s wife invited me one night for dinner. It was the first time I had the opportunity to visit and chat with his wife and the rest of his family in a less formal way. That evening I noticed that there was a plaque on the wall, written in Arabic, and sealed with a wax impression that appeared to be the standard of the royal family of Saud. I asked about it and this is what I was told.

After he had performed his pilgrimage to Mecca and Medina, Shaykh Abdul Mabood remained in the Hijaz, teaching. King Abdul Aziz bin Saud had just recently taken control of the country and was under tremendous pressure from the Wahhabi scholars in Ryadh to control the emerging influence of the Sufis in the Hijaz, as well as the Shias and their interests in the shrines of the members of the Prophet’s family. Succumbing to their threats, King Abdul Aziz launched a campaign against these two groups, by destroying the shrines of the awliya’.

Shaykh Abdul Mabood after having petitioning the King on many occasions to stop these activities met with treachery. The king had put a warrant for the Shaykh’s arrest. The Shaykh banded together with others wanting to preserve these holy places, and waged battles against any army that attempted to hurt or destroy these shrines. The conflict raged on for many months. The warrant for the Shaykh’s arrest had become a bounty hunt as the king placed a large sum of gold on Shaykh Abdul Mabood’s head.  After some time the Shaykh was arrested and brought to stand trial in the court of King Abdul Aziz. The trial lasted for but a few minutes, the charges were read and the sentence handed out.

The Shaykh was brought in front of King Abdul Aziz. Shaykh Abdul Mabood’s head had already been wrapped in clothe and the axe and chopping block were already in the courtyard of the palace. The king leaned over to the Shaykh and asked if there were any last words. The Shaykh began to recite several poems about the qualities of the Prophet’s family and how they should be remembered and cherished for all times. The king was moved to tears. For not only were the words of the Shaykh overwhelmingly beautiful but the king recognized those poems as having been written by his grandfather and recited to him almost every night.

The king ordered the clothe to be removed from the Shaykh’s head and for him to be set free. The king approached Shaykh Abdul Mabood and humbly requested his forgiveness. . As a personal show of gratitude to the Shaykh, the King decreed that from that day forward, Shaykh Abdul Mabood would be the guest of the kingdom on the pilgrimage to Hajj.  The kingdom of Saudi Arabia would cover all of his travel expenses and costs to stay in Mecca and Medina. The Shaykh was given an official plaque with this decree. It was this plaque, I asked about on the wall.

Prior to receiving this gift, the Shaykh had already performed the Hajj for many years. When I had met him in 1983, he had already completed over 100 pilgrimages to Hajj. As far as we know, he holds the record for attending the pilgrimage.

His wife went on to tell me that Shaykh Abdul Mabood remains in bed most of the year. A few weeks before Hajj, he starts to move around more and a few days before he sets off to Hajj, he walks around, full of energy. She said that his hair turns from white to gray and even turns black as the Hajj approaches. In her time as wife of the Shaykh, he had lost and grown another set of teeth. As a junior wife, she remembered coming into a household of two other senior wives that the Shaykh had several sets of teeth come in and fall over his lifetime.

Habib Ali Al Jifri of the Ba Alawi Tariqa takes Bayah with Mawlana Shaykh Nazim Al Haqqani (qs)

A friend recently informed me that Habib Ali Al jifri of the Ba Alawi tariqa recently took bayah with Shaykh Nazim Al haqqani in the last 10 days of ramadan. I was first stunned by this as I was actually thinking to take the ba alawi tariqa originally. Another amazing thing  is many know that its common for the habaib to take baya of baraka. In this case this is after the death of the Qutb of the Ba alawi tariqa  Habib Abdul Qadir Al Saqqaf and the second in command Habib Ali Al Aydarus who was more on the hidden side. Both awliyah passed in the last couple months one 40 days after the other.  Could this be bayah of suluk ? as it was also in ramadan and the last 10 days! My close friend informed me he renewed his baya on the first day and today on Juma he did it after the sohba. Here is some pictures that were forwarded to me.

Wuzara of Saydina Mahdi as

One Grandshaykh (Shaykh Sharufudeen Al Daghestani qs) of the Naqshbandi Tariqa extracted all the names of the Wuzara, Khulafa and Awliyah in Sayidna Mohamed Mahdi as time from a verse in Sura Al Anam.

Shaykh Sharafudeen Al Daghestani qs

Ibn Arabi qs mentions .. “Allah will appoint  as his ministers a group whom he has kept hidden for him in the secret recesses of the spiritual world. Allah has acquinted these helpers threw unveilings and direct witnessing with realities and contents of Allah’s command concerning his servants. So Mahdi as makes his decisions and judgments  on the basis of consultation  with them since they are the true knowers, who really know what is there in the divine reality.

.. These helpers are from non arab peoples, none of them are arab although they speak arabic. And they have a guardian , not of their kind, who never disobeys Allah at all, he is the most elect of the helpers and the most excellent of Mahdi as trusted ones”

Habib Neon!?

(Habib Neon) (1898 -1969)

Once upon a time, at a masjid in Surabaya, Indonesia, people gathered as usual after Isha for a Majlis Ta’lim. The masjid was fully occupied with thousands of jemaah (assembly) waiting eagerly to listen to a tausiyah (lecture). All of a sudden the lights went off. Most of the crowd quickly rushed out of the masjid. It was full moon then so it was not too dark outside the masjid. As they were loitering, they saw a figure approaching them. Judging from the man’s dressing (Yaman gamis) and his green turban, they recognised him as Habib Muhammad bin Husin Al-Aydarus.

Habib Muhammad then entered the masjid. The moment he stepped in, the crowd saw beams of light coming out from his body like a neon lamp! His entire physical had lit up! The crowds were flabbergasted because they had not seen Habib Muhammad carrying any torch lights or lamps. The masjid which was earlier in complete darkness became bright again with the lights shining from him. Eversince that miraculous event Habib Muhammad was known as Habib Neon.

Born in Tarim, Yaman in 1898, Habib Neon was a respectable and sought after scholar not only in Surabaya but also in the neighboring districts. Since he was a child he had enjoyed close attention and training from his father Habib Husin bin Zainal Abidin Al-Aydarus who was a renowned alim and arifbillah (gnostic). Their family name “Al-Aydarus” means leader of the people of tassawuf (sufis). Many Al-Aydarus ulama were in fact sufis such as Al-Imam Habib Abdullah bin Abu Bakar Al-Aydarus, Habib Husein bin Abi Bakar Al-Aydarus and Habib Muhammad bin Husin Al-Aydarus himself.

Habib Muhammad or Habib Neon was known for his exceptional strength in fasting. He considered keeping a full stomach and the habit of over-eating as the root cause for nafs. For that reason he developed a habit to fast for an extended period of time. He fasted for seven years and throughout the seven years he only had seven dates for iftar (breaking of fast) and another seven for sahur meal in the break of dawn. At one time during a year of fasting he had only consumed about 3.4kg of wheat or 5 ‘mud‘. One ‘mud‘ of wheat equals 675 grams. This was a practice attributed to Imam al-Ghazali.

Habib Muhammad once said, “At the beginning of my journey, I had read a lot of sufi books. I also liked to test my nafs by following the methods of training employed by the salafus soleh as recorded in their kitabs.”

He is remembered as one who is tawadhuk (humble), always honoring his guests and never turned down an invitation especially from the less fortunate. He was always very warm and hospitable towards his guests. People enjoyed meeting him as his face was always cheerful and bright with nur (light). Everyday between 10.00 a.m. and Zuhur (noon prayer) he would receive guests who came from all over Indonesia and abroad to seek his advice. He welcomed them with open arms and his karamah (gifted ability) was that he already knew what people’s intentions and problems were even before they had a chance to speak.

He would spend the time between Maghrib and Isha (Evening and Night Prayers) revising salafi kitabs and on Friday nights he would customarily read the burdah with his jemaah.

He had deep respect for the ulama and would spend months traveling great distance to visit them in places like Palembang, Pekalongan and Tuban. The inherent ma’rifa (gnosis) attributed to the Al-Aydarus clan was evident in Habib Neon. He spoke very little. He only uttered words of wisdom and zikr, and always refrained himself from speaking unnecessarily. He was also known for his generosity, ever ready to contribute his wealth to the needy. Most of his life was spent on propagating Islam. He passed away on 22 June 1969 at the age of 71. His maqam in Pergirikan, Surabaya is regularly visited by throngs of people especially during his haul (event commemorating his death), on the last Thursday of Jamadil Awal AL-FATIHAH.

Protection for the Month of Safar

This month is the month of descent of misfortunes. In a year one Million and Eighty Thousand misfortunes descend, out of which Nine Hundred and Twenty Thousand, descend in the month of Safar. It is therefore mentioned in a Hadith by the Beloved of Allaah, Muhammad Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam that anyone who gives me the good news that he survived Safar, I will give him the good news of that person’s entering Paradise.

Hadrat Adam’s mistake occurred in this month. Hadrat Ibraheem was put into the fire on the 1st of Safar. Hadrat Ayyub got involved in his misfortune in this month. Hadrat Yahya , Hadrat Idrees , Hadrat Yunus and Hadrat Muhammad Sallallahu Alahi Wa Salam the Beloved of Allaah SWT were all involved and put into trials in this month. Hadrat Habeel {Able, son of Adam } was martyred in this month.

Many of the Saliheen state that Allah sends down the trials and tribulations that will occur throughout the year on the last Wednesday of the month of Safar. Those trials and tribulations are spread out accordingly and apportioned to specific people. It has been recommended to make certain duas and perform certain devotional acts seeking Allah’s Mercy and Gentlessness during this time to avoid being apportioned any trial or tribulation.

It is essential for all Muslims to perform, on the first night of Safar, 4 Raka’h {Nafl Salah} after Salatul Isha in a manner that in the first Raka’ah after Surah Al Fatihah is recited Surah Al kafiroon 15 times and in the 2nd Raka’h

{after Surah Al Fatihah} is recited Surah Al Ikhlas 15 times and in the 3rd Raka’h

{after Surah Al Fatihah} is recited Surah Al Falaq 15 times and in the 4th Raka’h

  • Repeat this in each rak’ah.

After saying the salaam after the 4th rak’ah, this dua should be recited:
The Translation:
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. May the peace and mercy of Allah the Exalted be upon our Master Muhammad, and upon his Family and Companions. {O Allah} the One of Intense Power, the One of Intense Perspicacity. O Glorious One, Your entire creation is humbled before your Might – protect me from your entire creation, O Charitable One, O Beautifier, O Gracious One, O Giver of Blessing, O Generous One – there is no god except You, we ask your Mercy, of Most Merciful. {O Allah} by the secret [blessing you have given] Al-Hasan, his brother [Husayn], his grandfather [may the peace and mercy of Allah be upon him!], his father [Ali ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him] – protect us from the evil of this day and from what descends on this day, O Sufficient Protector! {Allah will suffice you against them, He is the All-Seeing, All-Knowing}. Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best disposer of affairs, and there is no might or power except Allah’s, the Exalted, the Mighty. And may the peace and mercy of Allah be upon our Master Muhammad, his Family, and Companions.

Also, it is highly recommended to read Surat Ya-Seen (Chapter 36) on that day, and when reaching the verse:

{Sallamun qawlan min Rabbin Raheem} (Verse 58) to repeat that verse 313 times.

After finishing the Surah, then read this dua:
{Allahuma} Salli ‘ala Sayyidina Muhammadin salaatan tunjeena biha min jamee’ al-ahwaali wa al-afaat, wa taqdi lana biha jamee’ al-hajaat, wa tutahirruna biha min jamee’ al-sayyi’aat, wa tarfa’una biha ‘ala ad-darajaat, wa tubalighuna biha aqsa al-ghayaat, min jamee’ al-khayraat, fi al-hayaati wa ba’ad al mamaat. {Allahuma} isrif ‘anna sharra ma yanzilu min al-samaa, wa ma yakhruju min al-ard, innaka ‘ala kul shayy’in qadeer. Wa Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘ala Sayyidina Muhammad wa ‘ala Aalihi wa Sahbihi wa Sallim.

Translation:
O Allah, send mercy upon our Master Muhammad, a [prayer of] mercy with which You save us from all threats and calamaties, and by it [the prayer for mercy] You fulfill all our needs, and You purify us from the entirety of our sins, and You raise us by it to the highest levels, and You allow us to reach our greatest aspirations, in this life and after death. O Allah, avert from us the evil that descends from the heavens, and from [the evil] the comes from the earth – indeed, You are in power over all things. And may Allah send His Mercy upon our Master Muhammad, his Family, and Companions.

Finally, it is recommended to make dua for one’s spiritual needs as well as one’s worldly needs, then ask Allah for protection and good health.

May Allah give us all the success to benefit from each month, each day, and each moment. May Allah continue to bless you all, your families, and the entire Ummah.

It is a good practice, and that of Granshaykh Abdullah Daghestani qs, to sacrifice a lamb (qurban) for the sake of Allah Almighty on the 27th of Safar.

The Diwan ..

The Diwan is the known meeting place of the Elite of the Community or so-called “Ahl ad-Daira” (people of the circle) and/or “Ahl at-Tasarruf” (the People of the Power of Free Disposal). The Shaykh Sidi Abdellaziz Debbagh said in the “Kitab al-Ibriz” (“The Pure Gold”) as reported by his student Sidi Ahmed ibn Mubarak al-Lamti,

“The Diwan is in the cave of Hira which is where the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) undertook pious devotions – God’s blessings and peace be upon him: ‘The Ghawth sits outside the cave. Mecca is behind his right shoulder and Medina is in front of his left knee. On his right are four pivots (aqtab) who are Malikites, adherents of the school of jurisprudence of the imam Malik b. Anass – God be pleased with him. Three pivots are on his left each one an adherent of the (other) three schools of jurisprudence. Then in front of them is the Wakil who’s called the Qadi of the Diwan. At this time he too is a Malikite from the Banu Khalid who live in the region of Basra. His name is Sayyidi Mohammed b. ‘Abd al-Karim al-Basrawi. The Support speaks to the Wakil, and the latter is called the Wakil (deputy) because he speaks on behalf of everyone who’s in the Diwan.

(…) And I heard him say (God be pleased with him): ‘When the people of the Diwan gather together in the Diwan, they agree on what will happen from that time up to the same time the following day. And they discuss – God be pleased with them- God the sublime’s decree concerning the coming day and the night that follows it.’ He said – God be pleased with him: ‘They have the power of free disposal (tasarruf) in all worlds, the sublunar as well as the translunar, even in he Seventy Veils and even in the world of Raqqa- written with ra and a doubled qaf- Raqqa is located above the Seventy Veils. They’re the ones who have the power to act in it and power over its people, over their thoughts and what suddenly occurs in their hearts. Indeed, nothing suddenly enters their thought except by permission of the people of the power of free disposal (ahl al-tasarruf) -God be pleased with them one and all. Now if this is the case with the world of Raqqa, which is above the Seventy Veils which in turn is above God’s Celestial Throne, then how do you think matters stand with regard to the other worlds.”

(…) And I heard him say (God be pleased with him): ‘The small among the Friends of God attends the Diwan in his body, whereas the great Friend has no hindrance upon him.’ By this he means (God be pleased with him) that the small Friend when attending the Diwan is absent from his locality and his house, and isn’t to be found at all in his town because he goes to the Diwan in his body. As for the great Friend, he arranges things as he wishes. He attends the Diwan but isn’t absent from his house because the Great Friend is able to take on any appearance he wants and due to the perfection of his spirit, if he so wished, three hundreds and sixty-six bodies can be devised for him.

(…) One day I was with him outside the Bab al-Futuh and he began to name for me the great among the godly men- and this despite his being formally unschooled. I then asked: ‘How do you know them?’ He replied- God be pleased with him-: ‘The spirits of those who’ve received the great illumination have their abode in the dome of Barzakh. Anyone we’ve seen in the dome, we know he’s one of the great.’ Then we turned to speaking about the Shaykh Sidi Ibrahim Dasuqi. The Shaykh (God be pleased with him) said: ‘He’s one of the great.’ I began mentioning his glorious feats and the marvels recounted among his miracles. Then he said- God be pleased with him: ‘Though Sayyidi Ibrahim Dasuqi (God be pleased with him) lived from his time up to our day and age, he wouldn’t be attain the spiritual stations of your brother Abdellaziz– he was referring to himself- nor would he advance as much as Abdellaziz advanced from yesterday to today. By God, your brother doesn’t say this out of pride but he says it as an acknowledgement and by way of informing you about God’s favour!’(…) And one day I was entering through the Bab al-Jisa with him when he looked at me and said: ‘At this moment I’m wearing three garments. If one of them were removed and placed over the city of Fez, everyone in the city would dissolve and its wall and foundations, its houses and everyone in them, would return to absolute non-existence.’”

Women in the Diwan: He also said: ‘Women are present in the Diwan, though their number is small. There are three rows of them. This is in the area of the three Pivots who are on the left, above the circle of the first row in the space between the Support and the three Pivots.’

Their Language: “I heard the Shaykh say – God be pleased with him: ‘The language of the people of the Diwan – God be pleased with them- is Suryani because of its conciseness and its combining numerous meanings, and also because the spirits and the angels attend the Diwan and Suryani is their language. They only speak Arabic if the Prophet – God’s blessings and peace be upon him- is present out of politeness towards him.’
